Apple is a brand known for innovative products and is often dubbed as the “most innovative company”. Apple is successful because it creates great software to complement its hardware, and is ahead of the curve in terms of software design and user experience.
Apple’s most recent software innovation is a programming language called Swift. According to our study, 90% of the top 100 non-game applications by revenue on the App Store use Swift in their main binary. In 2019, only 57% of the non-game applications used Swift, according to this study by Andrew Madsen.
Apple further open-sourced Swift in December of 2015, enabling the language to improve even further and get valuable contributions from the Open Source Community.
Benefits of Swift over Objective-C
1. Developing and maintaining your project in Swift is cost-effective
Swift is the future for development in the Apple ecosystem. It is cost-effective to switch to Swift, as the development cost (salary paid to the developers) would be lower than the time for development and testing.
